JTFB provides ammunition to fight deadly virus in Honduras

On July 23, 2019, The Honduran Ministry of Health declared a national emergency due to a dengue outbreak, with 16 confirmed deaths, 1,839 hemorrhagic-dengue patients, and more than 12,000 cases of common dengue reported throughout the country.

Joint efforts recover broken bird

The Blackhawk was in en-route to begin a mission to support the USNS Comfort when a malfunction on board led the pilots to do a precautionary landing near a riverbank. Upon further examination, the Blackhawk crew discovered that the aircraft’s transmission was broken and the bird would not be safe to fly.

Joint Task Force Bravo, with support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), delivered a donation of supplies valued at $ 15,000 to the Comayagua Department of Health in support of local efforts to counter the dengue epidemic.

25 Central American firefighters graduate from U.S. Air Force led exercise

Joint Task Force-Bravo, 612th Air Squadron firefighters trained with 25 firefighters from Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Belize and Costa Rica at Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras during Central America Sharing Mutual Operational Knowledge and Experiences (CENTAM SMOKE), a biannual exercise held on base, August 19 - 23.

Joining forces maintain operability, provide medical care

Soldiers with the U.S. Army Reserve assigned to Joint Task Force-Bravo conducted a Medical Readiness Training Exercise with Honduran military counterparts in the Atlántida department, Honduras, to provide basic medical services at local schools in the Frutera, Saladito and Boca del Toro villages, August 6 – 8.

JTF-B helps Costa Rica receive Comfort support

Members of Joint Task Force Bravo supported the U.S.N.S Comfort Deployment 2019 in Costa Rica from July 21 – 30, along the coast of Punta Arena, Costa Rica. Pilots and aircrew assigned to the 1st Battalion, 228th Aviation Regiment (1-228 AVN) transported personnel and equipment to allow the U.S. Naval Ship Comfort to provide medical care to Costa Rican citizens and Venezuelan migrants as part of the United states enduring promise of helping its southern neighbors.

U.S. Army aviation team completes qualifications to support USNS Comfort 2019

U.S. Army Helicopter pilots and crew members of Joint Task Force –Bravo completed qualifications July 18-26 to support an upcoming mission, off the coast of Punta Arenas, Costa Rica. The UH-60 Blackhawk team assigned to 1st Battalion 228th Aviation Regiment (1-228th AVN) conducted deck-landing qualifications in preparation to support USNS Comfort 2019 in Costa Rica.

U.S. Army Colonel Steven Barry, an Ohio State University graduate and former West Point instructor in Military History, assumed command of Joint Task Force-Bravo July 24, 2019 during a Change of Command ceremony at Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras.
