Boccardi presented the balls as part of "Kick for Nick," a non-profit organization founded in honor of U.S. Army Pvt. Nick Madaras. While serving in Iraq in 2006, Madaras gathered soccer balls to give to underprivileged children near his post. However, he was killed and was never able to distribute the balls himself. Shortly after his death, the "Kick for Nick" organization was established in his honor. Joint Task Force-Bravo supports Honduran Special Olympics

SOTO CANO AIR BASE, Honduras — Several members of Joint Task Force-Bravo were on hand for the opening ceremony of the Honduras

The 1-228th Aviation Regimen hosted children from the San Antonio Boys Home in La Paz on a visit ot Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras, Oct. 19, 2013. The children from the home were treated to a day of soccer, dodgeball and swimming in the base pool. The Soldiers from the 1-228th ate lunch with the boys in the base dining facility and spent the day playing with them, while also providing them with cookies, clothes and haircuts.(Courtesy photo)
