Joint Task Force-Bravo raises awareness for sexual assault with 5K event

SOTO CANO AIR BASE, Honduras — More than 150 Joint Task Force service members kicked off Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM)

More than 130 members of Joint Task Force-Bravo completed a 6.2 mile round trip hike to deliver more than 3,000 pounds of food and supplies to families in need in the mountain village, April 12, 2014. During the more than three mile trek up the mountain, Task Force members made an elevation gain of 1,600 feet while carrying more than 25 pounds of supplies each. Twenty-one Joint Task Force-Bravo service members filled trenches, leveled ground and shoveled dirt at the Ajuterique Housing Project helping several Honduran families get closer to moving into their new homes April 5, 2014. In conjunction with the Honduras Habit for Humanity, Siguatepeque region, the Municipality of Ajuterique and the Civil-Military Operations office at JTF-Bravo, these service members volunteered their labor to assist in the building of homes in the Ajuterique community. The two-phased project includes building 38 two-bedroom, one-bath homes for low-income Hondurans who can afford to construct a home but doesn't own the land to build on. (Photo by U. S. U. S. Special Forces; Honduran paratroopers exchange wings after training jump

SOTO CANO AIR BASE, Honduras — U.S. and Honduran service members exchanged jump wings after performing joint airborne operations

Joint Task Force-Bravo’s Medical Element (MEDEL) make a connection with the Hogar de Ninos, Nazareth boys orphanage on a Saturday morning. The boys receive much needed supplies such as clothing, toiletries, and school items provided by volunteers from MEDEL. The service members played soccer, colored pictures, and even took “selfies” with the joyous children.

Service members from Joint Task Force-Bravo and the Honduran Air Force Academy participated in the 2nd Annual JTF-Bravo Wounded Warrior Project 24-hour relay April 4-5, 2014 at Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras. Nineteen teams consisting of 4, 6, 8 or 12 members ran or walked almost 2,180 miles to remember their injured brothers and sisters in service and to raise funds for the Wounded Warrior Project. The operation, which lasted March 15-20, 2014, resulted in the Belizean government destroying 34 marijuana fields and approximately 57,283 mature marijuana plants for an initial estimated value of $29 million. In addition, the team also found and destroyed 25 pounds of marijuana seeds. Army CH-47 Chinook helicopter from the 1-228th Aviation Regiment takes off from Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras with a Bambi Bucket attached to fight a fire on a mountain ridge in Comayagua, Honduras. The fire posed a threat to destroy homes and to cut off an access road to a local village. Four members of Joint Task Force-Bravo’s Army Forces Battalion (ARFOR) in Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras, completed the Bataan Memorial Death March on Sunday March 23, 2014 in the White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico. The Bataan Memorial Death March honors a group of World War II heroes, who defended the islands of Luzon, Corregidor and the harbor defense forts of the Philippines in 1942. After being captured by the Japanese forces, these Army, Army Air Corps, Navy, Marines, and National Guard heroes, survived on half or quarter rations and outdated equipment during the 80 mile march.The soldiers were responsible for the defense of the islands of Luzon, Corregidor and the harbor defense forts of the Philippines.
