Joint Task Force-Bravo's Medical Element hosts "Fiesta Day" for local orphanage

SOTO CANO AIR BASE, Honduras — Joint Task Force-Bravo's Medical Element (MEDEL) held a Fiesta Day for 61 boys and 12 adult chaperones from the Hogar de  Ninos Nazareth orphanage, Oct. 26. Joint Task Force-Bravo teams with Honduras Special Olympics to host soccer tournament

SOTO CANO AIR BASE, Honduras — Joint Task Force-Bravo partnered with the Special Olympics-Honduras and the Honduran Air Force to host the Special Olympics soccer tournament here, Oct. 25-26. Volunteers from Joint Task Force-Bravo provided full support for the two-day event. U.S. service members prepared the soccer field each day and equipped it with tents, bleachers and tables.

Boccardi presented the balls as part of "Kick for Nick," a non-profit organization founded in honor of U.S. Army Pvt. Nick Madaras. While serving in Iraq in 2006, Madaras gathered soccer balls to give to underprivileged children near his post. However, he was killed and was never able to distribute the balls himself. Shortly after his death, the "Kick for Nick" organization was established in his honor. The 1-228th Aviation Regimen hosted children from the San Antonio Boys Home in La Paz on a visit ot Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras, Oct. 19, 2013.
