MWDs train on helicopter, medevac operations

Joint Task Force Bravo’s 1st Battalion, 228th Aviation Regiment C Company recently acclimated two MWDs to helicopter flight, and the use of the HH-60’s hoist capabilities during a training exercise Oct. 29, 2021 at Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras.

Sergeant Sánchez: A firefighter’s journey to recovery

On one of his days off from duty, traveling from the city of La Esperanza to Gracias, in the department of Lempira, Honduras, Sergeant Brian Sánchez, a firefighter with the Gracias Lempira Fire Department was involved in an auto accident. While stuck underneath the overturned vehicle, he lost consciousness. Local search and rescue officers and passersby spent hours using all available resources to lift the vehicle to rescue him. He was then taken in the back of a pickup truck to the nearest medical facility. Upon arrival at the hospital, doctors determined he required immediate brain surgery - a service that is not available in a town that small. A decision was quickly made to transport him to the Medical Center in Tegucigalpa.

U.S. ARMY HELICOPTER CONDUCTS LANDING IN SANTA BARBARA DUE TO THUNDERSTORM

A U.S. Army UH-60 helicopter landed in San José de Colinas, a municipality in the department of Santa Barbara, Honduras, July 9, 2020, due to inclement weather conditions.  The four-member crew was conducting medical evacuation training and area orientation for evacuation procedures, and is assigned to Joint Task Force-Bravo’s 1st Battalion, 228th Aviation Regiment.

Honduran Air Force, US Army partner for first-ever online MEDEVAC training course

Twenty members of the Honduran Air Force graduated from a Basic Aeromedical Evacuation training course provided by Joint Task Force- Bravo, June 19. The three-week academic training course included the participation of 13 nurses and seven doctors stationed at different Honduran Air Force bases, who connected with their JTF-Bravo counterpart from the 1st Battalion, 228th Aviation Regiment through video chat.

JSF prepares for Medical Evacuations

The 1st Battalion, 228th Aviation Regiment conducted a joint Medical Evacuation training with Joint Security Forces at Soto Cano Air Base, Jan. 17 - 18, to increase readiness and knowledge in preparation for medical emergencies.
