SOTO CANO AIR BASE, Honduras –
Joint Task Force-Bravo is hosting the 18th iteration of exercise CENTAM SMOKE at Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras, from Sep. 16-20, 2024.
For over 17 years, CENTAM SMOKE has trained more than 925 firefighters from Jamaica, Honduras, Guatemala, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Belize and Panama.
JTF-Bravo’s 612th Air Base Squadron’s firefighters will be training 38 firefighters from Honduras, Guatemala, Jamaica, Colombia, El Salvador and Belize, with 110 JTF-Bravo personnel supporting this bi-annual exercise.
Hands-on training will cover vehicle extraction, rescue techniques, and structural and aircraft live fire operations.
The realistic training scenarios were designed to challenge participating firefighters and prepare them for any future situation.
Previous iteration’s Caribbean, and South and Central American firefighters have used these learned skills to quickly respond to fires saving lives and communities.
Multinational exercises like CENTAM SMOKE increases interoperability and strengthens capabilities between nations.
