Maj. Gen. Phillip Ryan, Commanding General, U.S. Army Southern Command, delivers remarks as the officiating officer during a Soto Cano Air Base ribbon cutting ceremony dedicating a hangar to the 1-228 Aviation Regiment, April 30, 2025. After over 15 years of planning and construction, the $44 million dollar hangar will provide ample space for operations, maintenance and administrative actions under a hardened facility. The 1-228th Aviation Regiment is the primary component used by Joint Task Force-Bravo and U.S. Southern Command, responding to Humanitarian and Disaster relief efforts in the region, which aids in regional and U.S. security.
