‘Winged Warriors’ provide ship-to-shore transport, MEDEVAC and SAR support for multinational exercise
A UH-60L Black Hawk helicopter assigned to Joint Task Force-Bravo’s 1st Aviation Regiment, 228th Battalion from Soto Cano Air Base, Republic of Honduras, leads a flight from aboard the USNS Spearhead in the Gulf of Panama to Panama Pacifico, Panama, Sept. 22 2016. The 1-228th AVN transported 48 personnel during ship-to-shore operations in support of UNITAS 16, the world’s longest-running annual multinational maritime exercise that began in 1960. UNITAS, which means “unity” in Latin, is a demonstration of the U.S. commitment to the Central and South American region and to the value of the strong relationships forged between the U.S. and partner nation militaries.
