Jayson Toohey, Joint Task Force-Bravo communications officer, describes his role in the self-sufficient capabilities of the nine-person U.S. Southern Command Situational Assessment Team that was invited to demonstrate their disaster response assistance capabilities to the Nicaraguan Civil Defense and U.S. Embassy, Managua, Community Emergency Response Team May 17, 2016 in Managua, Nicaragua. The S-SAT is comprised of a team leader, civil military operations officer, air operations planer, engineer operations planner, logistics planner, communications planner, medical planner and force protection planner who provide critical information to governmental disaster response teams so they know what to expect and plan for when they arrive.
