U. S. Air Force Lt. Col. Sergio J. Vega, Jr. assumes command of the 612th Air Base Squadron at Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras by accepting the guidon from U. S. Air Force Col. Jonathan R. VanNoord, the 612th Theater Operations Group commander, June 5, 2014. Vega assumed command from outgoing commander U. S. Air Force Lt. Col. Ray P. Matherne.  The 612th Air Base Squadron provides air base support to Joint Task Force-Bravo and 12th Air Force including air traffic control, logistics, base civil engineering, fire department, airfield operations and personnel functions.  In addition, the squadron maintains Soto Cano Air Base as the United States' only strategic gateway to Central America for United States Southern Command.  (Photo by Martin Chahin)
