Wilford Hall pediatricians treat children in Honduras
Capt. Larrisa Newman, a resident in pediatrics from Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, measures a mid-upper arm circumference to evaluate for malnutrition in a child in Tierra Colorado, La Paz. Every four months, teams of U.S. military pediatricians and nutritionists drive and hike to the homes of people living in remote areas of Honduras to screen for malnutrion and anemia as well as provide basic medical care.
