SAN FERNANDO, El Salvador — A crowd gathers and waits to receive free medical care during a medical readiness and training exercise, or MEDRETE, here Aug. 26. Residents of the San Fernando area walked hours to the medical exercise, where many of them saw doctors for the first time in decades.
