Honoring 'first Americans'
SOTO CANO AIR BASE, Honduras -- Staff Sgt. Raquel Martinez, of the Army Forces here, reads a brief history of the Cherokee tribe during the Native America Heritage Luncheon at the dining facility here Nov. 17. The heritage celebration month, which has taken place every November since 1994, can be traced back to the early 20th century. At that time, Native Americans first began an effort to gain a day of recognition for the significant contributions the first Americans made to the establishment and growth of the U.S. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech.
