OLANCHO, Honduras – Captain Amanda Carnes, a 1st Battalion, 228th Aviation Regiment flight doctor, and Kimberly Hernandez, a translator, utilize a mobile-translation device during a Joint Medical Readiness Training Exercise Jan. 30 to the region. The Medical Application of Speech Translation team from Southern Command traveled with the Joint MEDRETE to test their products and to create a large database of medical terms and phrases which will enhance their translation software in order to improve interaction between medical providers and patients during humanitarian and disaster relief operations.
