Air Force to allow longer braids, ponytails, bangs for women

As an outcome of the 101st Air Force uniform board, Air Force women will be able to wear their hair in up to two braids or a single ponytail with bulk not exceeding the width of the head and length not extending below a horizontal line running between the top of each sleeve inseam at the under arm through the shoulder blades. In addition, women’s bangs may now touch their eyebrows, but not cover their eyes.

Exercise Mercury prepares Panamanian and U.S. forces for disaster response

Joint Task Force-Bravo service members and Panamanian forces joined for an emergency response and humanitarian assistance exercise in the Darien Province, Panama, December 3-10 to hone expeditionary and readiness capabilities during a combined, joint exercise called Mercury. Amid dense jungle and remote field conditions, more than 100 U.S. participants worked alongside their Panamanian hosts to respond to a simulated flooding disaster following a hurricane – a wholly believable scenario for the region.

Air Force sports seeks male, female softball players

The Air Force is looking for men and women for 2019 Air Force Softball Trial Camps. The men’s camp is at Eglin AFB, Florida, and the women’s is at Hurlburt Field, Florida. Both camps are July 25 – Aug. 11. Armed Forces Softball Championships are Aug. 12-18 at Pensacola Naval Air Station, Florida. Applications are due no later than June 3 for coaching staffs and June 10 for athletes.

JTF-B burns cultural barriers during CENTAM SMOKE

Firefighters from five Central American countries and Joint Task Force - Bravo participated in Central America Sharing Mutual Operational Knowledge and Experiences (CENTAM SMOKE) exercise, from April 8 - 12, here. CENTAM SMOKE, a biannual event hosted by the 612th Air Base Squadron, brought together fire fighters from Honduras, Costa Rica, Belize, Guatemala and El Salvador to train with U.S. Air Force members as well as develop bonds and understandings of one another’s culture with team building training.
