SOTO CANO AIR BASE, Honduras –
U.S. and Honduran servicemembers conducted joint airborne operations training, consisting of jumping from a C-130 Hercules aircraft at an altitude of 16,000 feet here, Sept. 21.
U.S. Special Forces from the 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne) conducted highly specialized military training alongside their Honduran counterparts. The joint-training allowed members from both nations to retain currency, while also strengthening the relationship between the U.S. and Honduran forces.
"It took a lot of hard work on the part of U.S. Special Operations Command South, 7th Special Forces Group Airborne, our battalion, and the Airfield Operations Battalion to put it together, and the hard work paid off," said a U.S. special forces member who participated in the training.
In all, 11 Americans and five Hondurans made the high altitude low opening jump to parachute safely to the ground in what was deemed to be a highly successful training exercise.
"This jump has been a great opportunity to not only maintain currency and bring our organic company back together, but also to jump both with our Honduran partners and in our area of responsibility," he said.
