Flight of life; U. S. Army aviation transports critically injured Honduran

By Capt. Steven Stubbs Joint Task Force-Bravo Public Affairs

The 1-228th Aviation Regiment evacuated a Honduran Presidential Honor Guard service member from the island of Roatan to a Tegucigalpa hospital Aug. 16, 2014 after sustaining life-threatening injuries the previous night.

The Honduran Air Force commanding general requested the air medical evacuation of the patient who received head and neck injuries when he was ran over by a vehicle on Friday night. The medical facility on the island of Roatan isn't able to treat these types of injuries.

Joint Task Force-Bravo, 1-228th Aviation Regiment and the JTF-B Medical Element regularly respond to several medical evacuation requests a month in a continued commitment to aid our partners in emergency support requests.

Current condition of the patient is unavailable at this time.
