By Senior Airman Westin Warburton Joint TAsk Force-Bravo Public Affairs

Various Honduran agencies along with U.S. military personnel from Joint Task Force-Bravo, Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras, traveled to the town of San Jose de Rio Pinto in the Department of Olancho, Honduras to conduct a Medical Readiness Training Exercise, Nov. 11, 2015, which will continue for the next two days.

These exercises are partnerships between the U.S. and various agencies in Central America and the Caribbean and support thousands of people with medication, routine medical treatment and dental services.

There are several objectives to MEDRETES, providing military personnel training for the delivery of medical care in austere conditions, promoting diplomatic relations between the U.S. and nations in Central America, and providing humanitarian and civic assistance.

These exercises bring together key members of the U.S. and foreign militaries, U.S. Embassy Country Teams, Non-Governmental Organizations, host nation government agencies and local civilian organizations to strengthen their partnerships and prepare them for future medical response endeavors.

In addition to MEDRETEs, JTF-Bravo's Medical Element conducts numerous other outreach programs to build relationships within the Honduran and greater Central American medical community by enhancing their capacity and helping to maintain the skills of medical providers.
