SOTO CANO AIR BASE, Honduras –
Joint Task Force-Bravo personnel deployed today in support of a personnel recovery mission in search of a Chicago student who went missing Aug. 11 while hiking in Costa Rica.
Fifteen Joint Task Force-Bravo personnel, one UH-60 helicopter, one HH-60 helicopter and a command and control package deployed at the request of the U.S. Department of State to assist in the search for David Gimelfarb, 28, who went missing while hiking in Costa Rica's Rincon de le Vieja National Park.
"I am proud of the men and women of Joint Task Force-Bravo for planning and deploying so rapidly for this mission," said Lt. Col. Brian Severns, Joint Task Force-Bravo Deputy Commander. "Joint Task Force-Bravo's participation in this search effort demonstrates our commitment to providing critical assistance to those in need throughout Central America."
Additional information on the personnel recovery mission will be released as it becomes available.
