SOTO CANO AIR BASE, Honduras –
U.S. service members and civilian personnel with Joint Task Force-Bravo will conduct a joint medical mission in the department of Atlántida, Honduras, July 27-29, in conjunction with Honduran counterparts to assist communities in need.
Medical missions with Honduran counterparts from the Ministry of Health, armed forces and local government and non-government organizations increase JTF-Bravo’s expeditionary capabilities while assisting the local population with basic medical care.
The team of medics will be joined by veterinarians who will assist the communities of Las Mangas, Yaruca and Tripoli, while Task Force surgeons conduct a surgical readiness portion at Hospital Atlántida in La Ceiba to alleviate the region’s surgical backlog.
Services will include preventive medicine, primary care, dental services, pharmacy and veterinary services such as vaccination of cattle to address food insecurity. The mission will be conducted following strict COVID prevention measures and will include screening upon entering the locations.
JTF-Bravo is a task force under the U.S. Southern Command based out of Soto Cano Air Base and has conducted medical and surgical missions throughout the country and across Central America for almost 40 years.
