SOTO CANO AIR BASE, Honduras –
Members of Joint Task Force-Bravo's Army Forces Battalion (ARFOR) provided some joy for some local children during an orphanage and school visit, Oct. 20.
More than 25 members of the ARFOR Battalion made the trip to the Horizontes al Futuro orphanage and school, where they spent a Sunday afternoon visiting with more than 50 children. The ARFOR members gave the children haircuts, cooked hot dogs, and spent time playing dodge ball, handball and musical chairs with the kids.
"It's an incredibly rewarding experience," said U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Steven Brettler. "It's great to be able to interact with the kids, to have fun with them and give back to the local community."
During the visit, the ARFOR members gave away gift bags, as well as 37 pairs of shoes to the children. The shoes had been collected from donations made by ARFOR members.
"This is something small that we can do to help out these kids," said U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Abel Telles. "Coming out and visiting with them, spending a few hours with them, you can tell it really brightens their day. It's a great way to give back to the community and make a difference."
