Joint Task Force-Bravo service members complete Combat Water Survival Training

By Ana Fonseca Joint Task Force-Bravo Public Affairs Office

Joint Task Force-Bravo's Army Forces Battalion (ARFOR) and Medical Element (MEDEL) service members conducted a Combat Water Survival training at the base pool in Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras, March 13.

The training was conducted in order to allow the service members to maintain proficiency in a variety of skill sets such as two stroke test, using trousers as a floating device, 15-meter swim with a M16, high level entry from the diving board and collar tow using the side stroke.

"The exercise trains the soldiers how to survive in the water, how to create a protection device out of your uniform," said U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Roberto Ordoñez, platoon sergeant for ARFOR's Headquarter Support Company.

The training was put together by Ordoñez and U.S. Army First Lieutenant Sequoya Dudley, HSC executive officer. "It was an exercise available for the entire Task Force," said Dudley. "We want to get people acclimated to non-land based operations and the response was great, everyone was supportive and enthusiast about it."

In all, a total of 18 service members participated in the highly successful training exercise.
