JTF-Bravo Medical Element welcomes new team

By 1st Lt. Jenniffer Rodriguez Joint Task Force-Bravo Medical Element

Sister units, under the 807th Medical Command Deployment Support, Army Reserve Component, came together March 8, 2016, at Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras, for a change of responsibility ceremony.

The 325th Combat Support Hospital from Independence, Missouri, deployed to Honduras in February 2016 and began working closely with their Soldier counterparts from the 94th Combat Support Hospital, whose home station is located in Seagoville, Texas.

The change of responsibility ceremony began with a Medical Element battalion run, which included soldiers from both units.

The 94th Soldiers completed a nine-month deployment to Soto Cano under the command of the Joint Task Force-Bravo Medical Element.

During his speech, Lt. Col. Marshall Smith, JTF-Bravo MEDEL commander, stated the Soldiers of the 94th accomplished their mission by providing quality and safe care to the people of Honduras and to the men and women deployed to Soto Cano.

"Over 7,000 patients were screened, the clinic itself had over 4,500 patient visits over the past nine months," said Smith. "You completed more than 10,000 combined patient visits and you should be extremely proud of that, you have accomplished so many things and we have so many memories."

The ceremony included a brief history of both units and their distinguished events. Both units were also acknowledged for their roles in Iraq, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

At the end of his speech, Smith bid farewell to the 94th personnel and welcomed the new staff saying, "to the soldiers of the 325th CSH, I challenge you to take MEDEL to the next level; you have quickly adapted to this new environment and I am confident that you will uphold the proud MEDEL tradition of providing quality care throughout Central America."

The Medical Element supports JTF-Bravo missions and has the care of those deployed to Soto Cano Air Base as their primary role, maintaining a dental clinic, pharmacy, patient administration, laboratory, as well as preventive and emergency medical services on base.
