SOTO CANO AIR BASE, Honduras –
A team of eight Joint Task Force-Bravo members competed in the Army Ten-Miler race in Washington, D.C., Oct. 4, finishing eighth of 38 teams in their division.
The JTF-B Army Ten-Miler Team was in the "Active Duty Mixed" category, for teams of mixed-gender, active-duty military members.
Members of the JTF-B Army Ten-Miler Team included Capt. Gerritt Schellin, Command Sgt. Maj. Carlos Escalera, Capt. Danny Garcia, 1st Lt. Kent Feda, Chief Warrant Officer Darin Scudder, 1st Sgt. Jorge Ortiz, 2nd Lt. Marydell Westman and 1st Lt. Lisa Klekowski.
Captain Schellin led the team with a time of 1:05:40, finishing 492 of about 23,000 racers. Fellow team members were close behind: Command Sergeant Major Escalera in 1:06:50 and 596th place, Captain Garcia in 1:07:08 and 630th place, Lieutenant Feda in 1:11:12 and 1182nd place, Chief Warrant Officer Scudder in 1:13:28 and 1610th place, First Sergeant Ortiz in 1:15:05 and 1959th place, Lieutenant Westman in 1:23:06 and 4554th place and Lieutenant Klekowski in 1:23:07 and 4561st place.
The Army Ten-Miler is an annual event for JTF-Bravo members. Each year, members compete to join a team that travels to Washington D.C. and represents JTF-Bravo in the Army Ten-Miler.
