SOTO CANO AIR BASE, Honduras –
Members of Joint Task Force-Bravo's Army Forces Battalion (ARFOR) spent three days setting up the "Lite Expeditionary Camp" here this week as part of a training exercise. The Lite Expeditionary Camp is a self-contained system that has the capability to sustain a military operation in a field environment for up to ten years with proper upkeep.
One camp consists of seven total tents; four personnel tents, one shower tent, one tactical operations center (TOC) tent and one radome tent. Each of the four personnel tents can house up to 20 service members, and there are four shower systems in each shower tent.
Setting up the entire camp system takes up to 40 man hours.
"Everyone came together really well during the camp setup," said U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Timothy Byrne. "With most people setting up and seeing this for the first time, it took the team less time than expected to accomplish constructing the Lite Expeditionary Camp."
Joint Task Force-Bravo has several Lite Expeditionary Camp systems, with the capability to deploy them to remote sites throughout the area of responsibility in order to enhance mission capability.
