SOTO CANO AIR BASE, Honduras –
Nine members of Joint Task Force-Bravo's Joint Security Forces received the Army Achievement Award from the 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne) here on June 4, 2014.
The U.S. Army servicemembers, Pvt. Bryan Claudio, Spc. Luis Cuevas, Spc. Sergio Matos, Sgt. Juan Carlos Muñoz, Spc. Hector Giomar Orozco, Spc. William Ortiz, Sgt. José Luis Penson, Spc. Chris Perez, and Sgt. Wilson Pietri all volunteered to work with 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne) in training Honduran police officers.
The completed exercises included demolition, water resistance training, and human resources training.
"It's amazing to train alongside with the Special Forces group and help train the Honduran forces at the same time," said U.S. Army Sgt. Wilson Pietri, JSF military police investigator. "The entire experience was an adventure and I'm glad I was part of it."
The trainings included capabilities that both, JSF and Honduran police officers, can bring back to their units and pass on to their partners. "We, as JSF members, gained new skills with this training, our Honduran partners gained new capabilities as well, and so did the Task Force," said U.S. Air Force Maj. Robert Shaw, JSF commander. "It was a group effort."
This award represents the motivation of the soldiers and their ability to work with different units. "Everyone stepped up and did a great job," said Shaw.
