Sergeant Major Eduardo Fernandez Gonzalez

Command Sergeant Major Eduardo Fernandez joined the Army in October of 1996 and completed One-Station Unit Training (OSUT) as a Cavalry Scout at Ft Knox KY. His assignments include Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Ft Hood, TX; F Troop, 2nd Squadron, 3rd Cavalry Regiment, Ft Carson, Colorado; A Troop, 1st Squadron, 4th Cavalry, Conn Barracks, Germany; Cobra Team, National Training Center, Ft Irwin, California; C Company 2nd Battalion, 12th Cavalry and Headquarters and Headquarters Company 2nd Battalion, 12th Cavalry, Ft Hood, TX; United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Ft Bliss, TX; 1st Battalion, 8th Cavalry and 2nd Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division Fort Hood, TX; 2nd Battalion, 70th Regiment 2nd Brigade 1st Infantry Division Fort Riley; 3rd Battalion, 362nd Regiment 1st Army Fort Bliss TX.

He has served in a multitude of duty positions in the Cavalry: Dismount, M2A2 Bradley Driver, Team Leader, Bradley Gunner, Section Leader, Company Master Gunner, Platoon Sergeant, Observer-Controller/Trainer, First Sergeant, Battalion Operations Sergeant, Brigade Operations Sergeant and Command Sergeant Major.

CSM Fernandez’s military education includes all levels of the Non-Commissioned Officer Educations System, Class 63 of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, the M2A2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle Master Gunner Course, and various other professional development courses.

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (4th Award), Meritorious Service Medal (6th Award), Army Commendation Medal (2nd Award), Army Achievement Medal (8th Award), Army Good Conduct Medal (7th Award), National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (2nd Award), Afghanistan Campaign Medal (1 Campaign Star), Iraqi Campaign Medal (4 Campaign Star), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (4th Award), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (3rd Award), North Atlantic Treaty Organization Medal (3rd  Award), Combat Action Badge.

He is also the recipient of the prestigious Order of Saint George and the Order of Saint Maurice.

CSM Fernandez is married to the former Brandy Peterson.  They have three children: Emanuel (19), Eduardo (12), and Eresma (8).
