JTF-B MEDEL assists in surgeries in Suriname
PARAMARIBO, Suriname -- Col. Michael Hoilien, Joint Task Force-Bravo Medical Element commander, Lt. Col. Bernard Kopchinski, surgeon and Lt. Col. Francis Stoecker, certified registered nurse anesthetist work with Dr. John De Bye, ‘s Lands Hospital chief of surgery, and his surgical staff to complete remaining medical proceedures from Operation Continuing Promise. In November, after only five days, USS Iwo Jimahad to end the Suriname portion of Operation Continuing Promise and leave to render aid to those affected by Hurricane Tomas in the Eastern Caribbean. GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala -- Senior Airman Mason Cairns , a weather specialist with 612th Air Base Squadron at Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras, relays weather updates to the forward deployed command staff during a medical readiness training exercise here Nov. 30. Weather forecasts are necessary to mission planning, both for air and ground transportation planning, because commanders must make decisions based on possible adverse atmospheric conditions.
