Joint Task Force-Bravo partners with "Kick for Nick" to donate soccer balls to Honduras Special Olympics
U.S. Army Col. Thomas Boccardi, Joint Task Force-Bravo commander, presented soccer balls to participants of the Honduras Special Olympics soccer tournament at Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras, Oct. 25, 2013. Boccardi presented the balls as part of "Kick for Nick," a non-profit organization founded in honor of U.S. Army Pvt. Nick Madaras. While serving in Iraq in 2006, Madaras gathered soccer balls to give to underprivileged children near his post. However, he was killed and was never able to distribute the balls himself. Shortly after his death, the "Kick for Nick" organization was established in his honor. Today, soccer balls are donated and distributed to underprivileged children around the world through "Kick for Nick," in memory of Pvt. Madaras. (U.S. Air Force photo by Capt. Zach Anderson)
