Medical mission concludes in flood-affected El Salvador; more than 1,300 treated
A representative of the Salvadoran Ministry of Health administers anti-parasitic medication to a young boy as his mother holds the child during a Medical Civil Action Program (MEDCAP) here Dec. 15, 2009. The boy was one of more than 1,300 patients seen during a two-day medical mission offering residents affected by November flooding and mudslides the opportunity to receive medical care, immunizations, education, and prescription drugs free of charge. It was a combined effort between the Salvadoran government, the U.S. Embassy in El Salvador, and U.S. Southern Command’s Joint Task Force-Bravo – based at Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras.
